Come help us celebrate the long-standing volunteer, Henry Mattas, as he retires as Fire Chief from the O’Connor Volunteer Fire Department.

Henry first joined the Paipoonge Volunteer Fire Department in 1974 and became Fire Chief of the department in 1984. Henry then joined the O’Connor Volunteer Fire Department in 2000 as Fire Chief and was Mutual Aid Zone 1 Coordinator for several years. Upon his retirement March 15, 2024, Henry had dedicated his life volunteering for 49 years as a Volunteer Firefighter protecting the communities.

Henry has long loved giving back to his community, helping his neighbours and meeting new people in the process. He has also enjoyed the opportunity to work with the people he has volunteered with.

We thank you Henry for your time spent in service on the O’Connor Volunteer Fire Department.  We wish you all the best in your retirement.
